KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 17.10 g, 2 h), Myriandros or Issos, under Menes or Philotas, circa 325-324/3. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, monogram of BAI; below throne, monogram of MI. Price 3228. Lovely light toning and excellent strike. Light die breaks and scratches and the reverse struck a touch off center, otherwise, extremely fine.
